02Why Ceylon

Ceylon. A distinction worth understanding.

“Cinnamon” covers more than one species. Most of what is sold is cassia. Ceylon is a different plant — with fine, many-layered bark — and the difference regulators have studied most is coumarin.

Ceylon and cassia cinnamon compared
	Ceylon	Cassia
Botanical name	Cinnamomum verum	Cinnamomum cassia and related species
Coumarin	Low levels, which the BfR considers safe	Higher levels
BfR guidance	Suggested for people who eat cinnamon often, in quantity	Consume in moderation

Much published cinnamon research does not state which species was tested, so its findings may not apply to Ceylon cinnamon or to this product.
“Ceylon” here names the type of cinnamon. It is not a statement about where this product is sourced or made.

05Questions

Questions, answered plainly.

What is Ceylon cinnamon?

Ceylon cinnamon comes from Cinnamomum verum. It is a different species from cassia, the more common cinnamon, and according to Germany’s Federal Institute for Risk Assessment it contains only low levels of coumarin. Read the BfR FAQ

What is in the Of Ceylon formula?

Each softgel features Ceylon cinnamon and is made with MCT oil, as stated on the pouch. Per serving: Ceylon cinnamon 600 mg. Other ingredients: MCT oil (from coconut oil), softgel (gelatin, glycerin, purified water).

How do I take it?

Take 1 softgel once per day with your favorite drink. Do not exceed the stated serving.

What does “7200 mg equivalent” mean?

Each softgel contains 600 mg of Ceylon cinnamon bark extract made at a 12:1 ratio, meaning 12 parts of bark go into 1 part of extract. 600 mg of that extract corresponds to 7,200 mg of Ceylon cinnamon bark. The 7,200 mg figure describes the raw material used. It is not the weight inside each softgel, and it does not mean the softgel works like 7,200 mg of cinnamon.

What evidence supports the benefits?

We keep this deliberately plain. Independent summaries from the NIH note that research on cinnamon is still developing and often does not identify which species was tested. Ingredient research does not automatically apply to this product, and we only show results measured on this exact formula. Read the NCCIH summary
